TTF Scholarships for 2020-2021 Available Soon
Through the members of the Tennessee Trucking Association, the Tennessee Trucking Foundation (TTF) has made significant contributions to the community in an effort to increase public awareness of highway safety. Additionally, the TTF has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to children’s charities in an effort to improve the lives of sick children and their families. The TTF believes that the children of Tennessee are the future of both this state and our nation. As an extension of their efforts, the TTF Board of Directors has created the Tennessee Trucking Foundation Scholarship. It is their belief this natural extension will chart a course of success for the future of Tennessee while continuing to assist those in need.
The Tennessee Trucking Foundation Scholarship is available to dependent children, spouses or employees of organizations who are members in good standing of the Tennessee Trucking Association. Applicants must be Tennessee residents who are entering their junior or senior year at accredited colleges or universities located in Tennessee.
Applications are available in January at the Community Foundation’s Website: www.cfmt.org. If applicants do not have access to the web, applications are available by contacting The Community Foundation at (615) 321-4939 or toll-free (888) 540-5200. The deadline to apply is March 15.
SELECTION OF WINNERS
A selection committee appointed by the Board of the Community Foundation and comprised of impartial Middle Tennesseans will meet after the deadline to review each application and select the recipients. In evaluating the applicants, the committee will consider a balance of merit and financial need, the applicant’s academic aptitude, test scores, and extracurricular activities. Applicants are notified of the results by mid-May.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients must attend an accredited college or university on a full-time basis in the fall of the year in which the scholarships are awarded and continue college that entire academic year without interruption, barring illness or emergency. Recipients are responsible for having The Community Foundation notified of their enrollment each quarter or semester by the school.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
Award checks will be made payable to the institution and mailed prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
To assure complete impartiality in the selection of recipients, the Tennessee Trucking Association Scholarship is administered by the Board of Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
The Community Foundation was established in 1991 by Middle Tennesseans committed to ensuring the quality of life of our community by endowing charitable organizations and charitable endeavors. Scholarship Funds within The Foundation can be set up to award students from particular geographic areas of schools, attending certain post-secondary institutions, or entering certain fields of study. The Foundation’s status as a public charity ensures donors – to these and other Funds – the maximum tax deduction available under the law.
