Our East Tennessee Safety/Maintenance Council has bi-monthly meetings across the State to discuss topics of interest and concern for safety and maintenance professionals.

The East Tennessee Chapter is pleased to present the first Tennessee Trucking Association Meeting for 2019.
The East Tennessee Safety and Maintenance Council will welcome Gerry Meade, Executive Director of Innovation at Phillips Industries.Gerry Mead joined Phillips Industries in 2017. He previously served as senior vice president of equipment and maintenance of US Xpress, Inc., one of the largest truckload carriers in the United States and has worked for some of the who’s who of the top 100 in the transportation industry; Yellow Freight, JB Hunt Transport Services Inc., Walmart Transportation LLC. and PAM Transport.
Mr. Mead is a respected and highly recognized industry leader with more than two decades of multi-faceted experiences in all sectors of the trucking industry.
Mead is most recognized as an innovator in the transportation industry. He has received several industry accolades including International Service Diamond Club Award-2002, Fleet Maintenance Magazine maintenance scholarship-2012, HDT Magazine Fleet Heavy Duty Trucking Innovator of Year-2016, Tennessee Trucking Association Maintenance Professional of the year-2017 and recognized by Commercial Carrier Journal as a CCJ Innovator-2017.
Gerry is a member of the American trucking Association Technology and Maintenance Council (ATA TMC), Tennessee trucking Association (TTA) and also the United States Marine Corps Motor Transport Association (USMC MTA).
He volunteers as a presenter for the Junior Achievement Program that helps students realize that the education they are getting today will help them to have a bright future tomorrow.
Mr. Mead is an 8 year veteran of the US Marine Corps, where he was awarded several accolades including two Naval Achievement Medals for Maintenance Excellence. When not working, he is an avid hunter and woodsman and also loves being a devoted husband to wife Kristi, and cherished father to his three beautiful daughters and two very large dogs.
For any Maintenance Members who do not know, Crown College who graciously hosts the East Tennessee Safety and Maintenance Council meetings have a 2 year Auto/Diesel Technology program taught on Campus. This is a great opportunity for the Maintenance departments of our area Carriers and Diesel Repair facilities to make contact with potential Technician candidates to ease the ever growing Technician Shortage.
